I was running some errands around town today, and after leaving the post office, as I was walking back to my car, I noticed the way this street sign was creating an interesting shadow on the tree. I liked the way the shadow curved from the ground up along the trunk of the tree, so I took a picture. But when I looked at it again later, I saw something else.

Taking some inspiration from our Italian artist friend Silver Veglia, I thought this photograph suggested an alternative reality … a slightly surrealist one, where adding a few cars makes the shadow look like something different … like a road that defies gravity.
